The Most Unusual Six-Figure Pet Sitting Book Review I’ve Received…

I recently got an email with an dog video attachment from Karen Levy, owner of Laughing Pets Pet Sitting and Dog Walking in Atlanta, Georgia.

But here’s the thing: I see so many dog videos that I thought, “Ah, here’s yet another dog video, maybe I’ll watch this one later.”

But I clicked on it anyway and I’ve NEVER seen a dog video like this. It’s 32 seconds of Diesel the Dog….well, you’ll see…

Six-Figure Pet Sitting Book Review from PetSitUSA.com

petsitting_cover_lowres_12.22Another review for my book, Six-Figure Pet Sitting.

Thank you, Therese Kopiwoda of PetSitUSA.com for the lovely book review. 🙂

Here it is:

Six-Figure Pet Sitting: Catapult Your Pet Sitting Business to Unlimited Success by Kristin Morrison of Six-Figure Pet Sitting Academy, covers a wide range of topics to help pet sitters create a successful business. This includes writing a business plan, managing finances, organization techniques, marketing, hiring employees, customer service, and other subjects essential to operating a business. Where Six Figure Pet Sitting differs from other books geared to the pet sitting industry though, is that Kristin also stresses the personal and emotional aspects of operating a business.

In her book, Kristin asks people to dig deep and think about their goals, desires, and aspirations in order to create a business that works for them. Through years of working with professional pet sitters, she has developed exercises to help her clients define the what, how, and why of what they envision as a successful business – as well as a successful personal life. Once they are clear what that means, and what their goals are, she helps them put it all together to create a plan that will enable them to achieve those goals. She essentially takes an all encompassing approach to helping her clients, and her readers, create a better life.

Kristin includes some of the exercises she uses with her coaching clients in her book. Some of them are in the form of action steps such as organizing your office, setting up your bookkeeping, writing a marketing letter, etc. Others are more introspective, and require you to list your successes, failures, shortcomings, what you’d like to accomplish, etc. in your business and personal life. They will require some thought, and will likely challenge you. But if you go through the action steps and exercises as she suggests, you will get a clearer idea of what you want and how to get there.

The goal of Six Figure Pet Sitting isn’t just to help people create a successful pet sitting business – although that certainly is one goal. The bigger goal is to help people create a fulfilling life by building a business doing what they love. I highly recommend it to all pet sitters, regardless of how long you’ve been in business. In fact, even though I’ve owned my own business since 2001, her advice has me changing the way I do some things. And, I might add,  it’s all for the better. Thank You, Kristin!”

Thanks again, Therese of PetSit USA. It’s reviews like this that make all of those nights and weekends I spent writing the book completely worth it! 🙂

And for those of you who are interested in getting the book, it’s available in printed format on Amazon or in eBook format on my website.

Six-Figure Pet Sitting: The Book

petsitting_cover_12.22

I’m one of those people that is a bit old-fashioned when it comes to books.

I know, I know, Kindle is the hottest rage and I will admit it would be nice not to be lugging 50 pounds of books around with me on this trip that I’m currently on.

But, for me, there is something about holding a book in my hands that makes me very, very happy.

Which makes me also happy to announce that, in addition my book being available in eBook format, Six-Figure Pet Sitting: Catapult Your Pet Sitting Business to Unlimited Success book is now available in printed format through Amazon.

Yay!

You can do the writing exercises in the book. You can fold down the corner of the pages that you want to come back to next time you pick up the book (I won’t tell anyone).

And for those of you high tech pet sitters who want to read the Six-Figure Pet Sitting book on your smart phone and Kindle–it will be available for purchase in those formats soon too.

Enjoy and happy pet sitting!
Kristin

Pet Sitting Book Review

6FigPetSit_cover_11.22.10

Hello pet sitters,

I’ve experienced a few delays with the ebook production but come hell or high water, my book will be sent out as promised by the end of December to those who have preordered the book.

Debra Farrington, the book reviewer for the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS) recently reviewed my book and she emailed the review to me today.

I have to admit it was a bit vulnerable sending her my manuscript. It’s a little like, “Here, critique my baby, would you?”
🙂

This review will appear in the next issue of the NAPPS magazine:

“If you’re a brand new pet sitter looking for a guide to pet sitting from A-Z, this probably isn’t your resource, though you’ll find lots of good advice here. But if you’ve been a pet sitter for even a little while and you’re looking to grow your business into something that not only pays the bills, but gives you the lifestyle you want and deserve, then run—don’t walk—to the nearest computer and order this book.

Kristin Morrison, owner of a very large pet sitting business herself, and coach to pet sitters for many years, shares her secrets and strategies to free your creative energies, imagine your business (and life) as you’d like to see it, set goals and then, as Jean Luc Picard on Star Trek would say, “make it so.” There are plenty of practical tips on how to run your business on a day-to-day basis here, but the largest percentage of the book is dedicated to out-of-the-box exercises and practices that will help you understand what may be holding you back from being outrageously successful, and encouraging you to be very intentional about creating the business you truly want—whatever that looks like to you.

Included in the book are chapters on creating a good foundation, creating a business plan, recognizing your own self-worth, removing roadblocks to financial freedom, getting organized, marketing and promoting your business, being an employer, providing great service, and so much more. Those of you who have heard Kristin on one of the mentoring conference calls, or worked with her personally, will hear her voice in these pages, which are written just as she speaks with coaching clients. Approach this book with an open spirit, and a willingness to really look at what you’re doing, and you will walk away inspired and ready to make whatever changes you need to make to have a business and a life—both!—that match your dreams.”

There is still time to save $5 by preordering your ebook now. It will be emailed to you by the end of December.

Blogging and my Book

KristinOliveback

I’m noticing that I’m excited about this new blog and being able to communicate with all of you pet sitters on a regular basis and yet I’m also really excited and lit up about the book that I’ve been writing for pet sitters.

So…though the thought of  blogging every day sounds so fun and is tugging at me a bit, I’m finding that I really want and need to use my extra time to work on (and finish) my book.

Writing this book really has been a labor of love. I started it a few months ago when I hurt my back and was bedridden for a couple of days. One day I found myself writing for 10 hours straight! Now I usually write for 1-2 hours every couple of days and will stop when I find my attention wandering or I realize that I don’t want to be writing anymore.

I’m trying to really honor my natural rhythm of writing and not force myself to keep writing if I don’t want to.

I’m keeping the title hush-hush for now but in a few weeks I’ll be announcing it and telling you more about it. Stay tuned.
